lawyers guild meeting los angeles

lawyers guild meeting was so fun.
http://www.nlg.org/
i love ya!
los angeles chapter
http://www.nlg-la.org/
discussed critical race theory, intersectionality, misogyny within the black panthers, labor law, activist law, legal observations.
neo-nazi march coming soon.  may day.
permits. police brutality.
hugo chavez jailing a judge for releasing a prisoner.
funny when everyone got so party line like let's protect the pro-chavez stance, talk to the international committee, then maybe talk to the national lawyer's guild.
i was like, OMG, i'll go blog it ASAP, hello!
human rights!
man . . .
i was sitting in the progressive nexus of the overall sort of progressive LA lawyer's guild.
it was a special treat to me to be around like, twenty five really educated powerful affluent people.
and so many powerful women.
like rebecca thornton of the may day litigation. she's VP of the guild.
so in awe of her work!!!!

oh my gosh i was there to watch the cops beat people!!!!!!
2007.
i was really keen on the fashion expression.
one woman spoke of the human rights crises in the philippines and going there to observe the elections.

betty hung was overwhelmingly articulate on labor law.
and lisa . . . was so astute on the chavez obscuration where LG wants to kiss Chavez up, and ignore the human rights violation of imprisoning judges.
she reminded me of bruce fein.
a tough human rights kind of mind.

jim lafferty is such the moderator extraordinaire.  my favorite thing he said, was i agree with everyone and no-one, or something like that.
i think he must be a gemini.
i can't wait to hear him on KPFK.
so socially graceful!  i love this!

this was gripping every second of the time, pure passion work!!! oh and so much laughter!!!!
well---i had way too much fun.  2.5 hours of it exactly.
hope to see them again.
